If someone is looking for information, a service or want to buy a product MOST people use the internet to to all of that … even if they plan to buy locally!   So to succeed in any business online you have to make sure you stand out in this ever crowded internet world!  And part of that involves understanding some of the “common truths” about internet marketing concepts.

Your job as an internet marketing entrepreneur is to make sure that they buy from you whether you are in a customer’s  local area or not. To do that, they need to know you exist, and for that you need to do some focused internet marketing. Here are a few smart ways to market your business online.

An important tip regarding internet marketing is to be sure that your site appears as safe as possible if you conduct any sort of online sales.  This is important because many people are leery of using their personal information online.  You may wish to attatch seals on your site from the Better Business Bureau, VeriSign, and/or TRUSTe.

Try marketing your website as more of a free club instead of just another website business. Many people like belonging to clubs and groups, so this can increase your traffic and sales from repeat customers too. Include things like a message board so that members can chat, membership IDs, and even free graphics that they can place on their own sites.  This can allow you to build a community and a list of people who will be interested in what you want to sell.  AND this community also brings a lot of “added value” to the products you sell to your customers!  This is often an overlooked component of internet marketing.

Experiment with your internet marketing. This is vital because the internet is often changing … sometimes faster than we like!  Tweak your methods until they work; change wording and graphics to see what works best. Try different methods. Just because one technique is working, don’t stop looking for something that might work better. Changing and improving makes you more exciting to prospective clients and buyers; and that’s because not everyone does it.

Every nine months, you should ask your readers if they’d still like to receive your emails. A lot of time interest fades away after a while and people may not care to receive your emails any more. Giving them that option every couple months makes them feel like you care and don’t want to spam them. This may keep them interested in reading what you send out.

Speaking of emailing and communicating with your clients / customers and potential customers on your website or your blog or your email.  Make sure you do it often but not TOO often and always make sure you bring REAL content and REAL value in your messages.  If you send too much “junk” too often, people will just leave your list.  So be sure you let them tell you what they want  in the way of information and updates … and how often … and you’ll keep a very thriving community of customers!

By using these tips to make sure people know you exist, you can start being about the business of getting them to buy. Internet marketing can open up a whole new group of prospective buyers for what you are offering.

Take it from my own personal experience from running a home business,  that this can indeed make it harder to get things done on time and in full. Many people find they are working longer hours due to being interrupted more … and finding that they may not be making all the money they should be in their home business.

Consider hiring a landscaping company to cut your grass, rake your leaves, and blow your snow. If you’re busy working on your home business you won’t have time to clear the driveway before you rush to a meeting or to help a customer. Having it done for you will save enough time to make you more income than it’s costing you.

Sit down before you spend any money to be sure that what you are spending it on is an actual necessity and not just a luxury. If you find that your business can thrive without it, you will want to avoid that purchase. Put it on the back-burner until your business picks up, then you can get it.

Open an account with your bank that is strictly for your business. If you try to keep all of your personal and business money in one account you will likely use one for the other. It will make it much easier for you to keep track of spending and earning with a separate account.

Plan for the worst! There is really no way to plan for bad things to happen but if  you are ready for them if they come it will make things much easier to deal with. Have a well thought-out contingency plan developed to help you through this time. Figure out a way to keep your business running on minimum money.

You can see why you would want to implement a time and money management plan for your home business!  No one wants to work all day and night for nothing. To make the most of your time and the money you make from your business – it is best to use both of these resources in the best way possible!  So put your time and money management plan in place now!
